Sheffield is home to one of the largest independent cinemas in Europe, the Showroom.
The cinema not only specialises in providing us with the best of independent and world film, but also has student friendly prices and attracts an audience which is void of the usual riff-raff you find down the Odeon.
Here are some of the latest offers and films currently being shown:
Cult Tuesdays
The Showroom has vowed to give Sheffield audiences a weekly dose of cult classic cinema every Tuesday.
Suitably kicking off with 90's comedy, The Big Lebowski, on September 20th, we think that Cult Tuesdays will prove to be a hit, especially amongst students, as concessions are only £4.
Steel Recommends: The Woman
Celluloid screams, presents its latest film in the form of The Woman. The horror movie follows a the life of "The Woman", the last surviving member of a infamously violent clan. She is discovered in a forest alone, and in danger by a hunter, Christopher, who then takes it as his obsessive duty to capture and civilise her, as part of a psycologically deranged project. The audience learns that it really shouldnt be in his best interests to mess with a woman who has been living in the wild for the majority of his life.
Friday Night Live: Moving Mountains
Admission is free to this weekly extravaganza, which takes place in the Workstation, each friday evening.
The Showroom sucessfully brings a night of Americana folk music to Sheffield, providing the audience with an authentic experience- a great knees up where folk fans and newbies come together.
